Podcasting a Convention

All four podcasts from the 57th Texas District Convention now online!

The Texas District's podcasts of the Centennial Convention in Houston held June 22 - 25, 2006 are now all available online. Links for each podcast may be found below:


Episode 1 features an overview of the opening worship service with complete highlights of the service. We also managed to grab a quick interview with Synodical President Rev. Dr. Gerald B. Kieschnick.

PODCAST EPISODE #2: JUNE 23, 2006/a>

Episode 2 includes highlights of things such as the voting results from the floor of the convention, a peek into some of the Centennial Celebration event displays, and an interview with the newly elected 16th President of the Texas District, Rev. Kenneth Hennings.


Episode 3 features interviews with some convention attendees, excerpts from Southern District President Kurtis Schultz's presentation, Rev. John Stennfeld's devotional and Rev. Graumann's Bible Study.


Episode 4 features an overview of the day's final events, including more attendee interviews and Closing Worship.

These video podcasts range from 6 - 9 minutes and are news-style, hosted reports that summarize the day's events of the Texas District Convention. John Goeke, Director of Public Relations for the Texas District, serves as host for each episode.

Utilizing the latest technology at the 57th Texas District Convention in Houston these daily video podcasts are being made available for viewing online and may be downloaded for viewing through iPods or other related PDA's.

Enhanced versions of the podcast videos are currently being produced and will be made available for sale on DVD through this web site. These enhanced versions will include extended scenes of additional interview material, additional footage, and improved graphics and music. The DVD will run approximately 40 minutes and will include some additional Centennial "extras". One such extra will be an audio interview with Lutheran school teacher Arnold Koepsel conducted by David Goeke for the 75th Anniversary of the Texas District. Additional extras will also be included on the DVD. The DVD's will go on sale on this web site the week of July 17.

As we heed the call to action of the Texas District's mission, the tools of technology will play a key role as we "spread the Gospel, both locally and globally". Indeed, through podcasting from our Texas District Convention we may truly begin to understand how "global" our ability to reach out from Texas truly is!
