HOW WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?

How would you have done if you had sold everything you had to go to a new country? How would you have done, knowing that when you got there you wouldn't be able to speak the language of the country? How would you have done, if you had left family and friends behind? How would you have done, if you had lost a spouse or a child or a pare. . .or an entire family to cholera or other sicknesses on the passage over? How would you have done not knowing what you would do for work or even where you were going once you arrived? How would you have done living in a "dugout" while a "shack" of post oaks was constructed for you and your family in which to live? How would you have done learning that once you arrived you faced yellow fever? How would you have done depending upon creeks and ponds for your drinking and bath water? Think you have it hard? How would your faith have held out? So, it was with the Wends who immigrated to Texas in 1854 and from whence the Texas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod traces its deepest roots. It's all there in our history. Read about it. How would you have done? As a matter of fact, how are you doing?
