Centennial Moments

Researched & Written by David Goeke

Concordia College started out with 26 students, was largely a secondary preparatory school for ministerial students, and was a male only school. Today, the high school is gone and Concordia is a full fledged university. Concordia boasts some 1175 students and, while it still serves to prepare students for full time ministry, is a liberal arts university....and, since 1954, has been coeducational. As of this writing (November, 2005), Concordia is making plans to leave the old campus, purchase land and move to another location so that it will be able to keep up with its expanding population. The school's motto came from Psalm 108:13, "Through God we shall do valiantly". And, indeed, through God, Concordia has done valiantly....and, through Him, will continue to do the same.
